BEEWHERE & Los Angeles County Pesticide Alerts (for registered hives only.)
Beekeepers registered with BeeWhere can request advanced pesticide spray alerts from most planned pesticide uses. The exceptions are the government agencies that spray for mosquitoes. See "Mosquito Vector Control" below.
Registering your hives with Los Angeles County is legally required but the actual process is not for the faint of heart because you have to register with both BeeWhere and with Los Angeles County. BeeWhere charges from $10 to $250 depending on the number of hives. There is no Los Angeles County fee for registration.

LA COUNTY AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER
LA County Agricultural Commissioner’s Environmental Protection Bureau is the division that investigates all pesticide misuse (bee die-off) incidents in LA County.

Tip: LA County Agricultural Commissioner’s Apiary Program Office is responsible for beehive registrations/inspections in LA County. Apiary Program broadly monitor pesticide use incidents.

MOSQUITO VECTOR CONTROL
The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (Vector Control) uses pesticides and chemicals for MOSQUITO control. Vector Control is not affiliated with LA County. In fact there are 4 independent "Vector Control" agencies serving LA County.
Vector Control agencies operate under California Health and Safety Code § 116110 and are largely exempted from the notifications that are required under the BeeWhere registration program. LACBA is lobbying local Vector Control agencies to provide timely spray alerts and notifications.
